CLEANING AND PROTECTION OF TERRACOTA FLOORS

FLOOR CLEANING TERRACOTA

Undoubtedly mud floor cleaning, is the most important in order to obtain an optimal outcome process. The main characteristic of soils of clay (terracotta) is its porosity, which makes them particularly sensitive to absorption of liquids and stains.

We must differentiate the different circumstances that we usually find:

[] Virgin mud floors: We refer to clay soils that have been newly placed and not applied them to any treatment.

[] Virgin clay flooring factory pre treatments: Normally factory pre treatments are intended to prevent the absorption of stains during the placement process. Before these cases it is necessary to proceed to stripping the pretreatment since otherwise we could thoroughly clean the mud and much less then apply the appropriate treatment.

[] Antique clay soils without pretreatments: We refer to clay soils that have for years placed and you would never apply any protective treatment. In these cases the circumstances may be very different, since we can find soils with numerous embedded stains, mold and mildew outdoors, etc.

[] Antique clay soils previously treated: We refer to clay soils that have for years placed and those who have had any type of treatment (linseed oil, wax, ...). In these cases you must first conduct a pre-etching process to remove traces of this ancient treatment and thus able to thoroughly clean.

Our method of cleaning mud floors consisting of:

The first is to undertake sweeping the entire area best to avoid any dust. Subsequently, using professional rotating machinery, cleaning product injected into the mud, optimally distributing the entire surface. The use of the rotary machine is critical as it allows deep cleaning large surfaces. Similarly we use wet vacuum to go collect all the debris that the rotary machine is descaling.

For less than 20 m2 surface this procedure could be performed manually without using machinery. Thus the client could perform this process for yourself using our products and advice on how to use them.

Details of cleaning products used:

[] No emit vapors
[] No mud or impairs boards
[] You need to use work clothes, goggles and gloves to avoid splatter effects
[] You have to take special care with acid sensitive materials like polished marble and mosaics hydraulic

Sometimes after performing cleaning the floor can be seen that surface remains of saltpeter in some slabs. This is normal because the product makes the interior salt slab is expelled to the outside.
Once completely clean surface, leave to dry completely since otherwise the aftertreatment not grab. Normally the drying period varies depending on interior or exterior and the season. Typically indoor drying period of about 4-5 days needed; outdoor and about 3 days.

TERRACOTA FLOOR PROTECTION

Inside homes, what it is is to get to the mud a degree of total protection, so that repels liquids avoiding stains and is easy to clean and maintain.

In Terracotta treatments, we guarantee a level of total protection that lets you use clay floors even in areas like kitchens, without any problems.

The application of the treatment is applied by brush, using water-based products, it does not discharge into the mud and protect this from the inside, so that there is a surface treatment that over time can reach up, leaving unprotected slab against the absorption of stains.

Is carried out in two phases:

[] Application of base layer penetrates the interior of the slab covering clay porosity and only leaving a minimum degree of porosity to apply the finishing treatment

[] Application of topcoat. In this last step, proceed to 100% waterproof clay soil against absorption of liquids and stains; besides granting the selected finish.

There are different types of aesthetic finishes that we offer our customers, all with the same guarantee of total protection finish:

• Matte Finish.
• Finish Wet Effect.
• Leather Effect: Provides a more rustic finish the mud.

Outside of housing, seeks to give a high degree of protection mud and above all protect against inclement weather, which causes appearance of mildew or mold on some sunny wetlands, salt and occurrence of breakage expansion.

When we talk about high protection, we mean that outside is allowed a minimum level of open porosity mud to traspire. This makes the clay is protected against stains, but you have something more precautionary than for indoor clay.

The treatment is carried out by applying a monolayer of product over the whole surface, extending well and avoid leaving puddles; so the clay to absorb the product inner layers.

There are two types of aesthetic finishes that we offer our customers, both with the same guarantee of finish:

• Matte Finish.
• Finish Wet Effect.
